CONNECTING/CABLING IP PHONES TO OUR NETWORK

  • IP phones have a unique network address (MAC address) assigned by the manufacturer which is not duplicated on any other network equipment in the world!

  • An IP phone's extension is assigned to the MAC address, not the Ethernet network port or cable.

  • The network cable connected to our WS/FCS network (wall jack) in turn connects to the IP phone's network jack .
Your phone receives both power and network connectivity from this cable.

  • An IP phone has the ability to share its network connection with your computer or printer .
